Next Steps in TA - Hunger and Strokes Saturday 18th February 2012

1 Day - 9.30am - 4.30pm

These workshops are for those who have completed the TA101 course and would like to know more and for those who want to re visit the basics of TA in more depth. The nature/nurture debate has been an on-going feature in psychological and philosophical fields for centuries. The core question being “what is learnt, and what is innate to human beings?” Whilst much of Transactional Analysis is concerned with how we learn, and decide how our lives are and are going to be, Berne’s concept of Psychobiological hungers falls more into the realm of our innate capacities. Indeed, it is through how these hungers are satisfied or not that leads to the development of strategies to get them met. In this workshop we will be looking at the psychobiological hungers originally proposed by Berne, and looking at what happens when they are and are not sufficiently met. As part of this exploration, we will be particularly focusing on strokes, Berne’s “units of recognition”, and their relationship with our hunger for recognition.
