Myers Briggs® Masterclass 3 Change, loss and transitions Saturday 16th October 2010

Location: Newick, East Sussex

Course Fee: £80 (multi workshop discount available)

The third in a series of one day Saturday workshops is designed for those with a prior acquaintance with Jungian typology as interpreted by Briggs & Myers with the MBTI®.

It follows on from the introductory day held at The Link Centre in October 2009. Attendance at that workshop is not a pre-requisite for booking on any or all of the masterclasses; you just need to be familiar with your own profile, willing to share that with other attendees, and acquainted with the basic theory of type.

All workshops have an experiential format.

It has been said "The only constant is change". Gaining an understanding of how different types respond to change, both positive and negative, is helpful in supporting ourselves and others through the continual transitions that life requires us to make. And if "what we resist, persists" is also true, enabling transitions in a wholesome and healthful way is a desirable goal.

Change often brings loss, and loss results in a process of mourning and a state of grief. This can take many forms, and is easily misunderstood. Whether the loss is of a significant other (including a beloved pet), an object, or an aspect of lifestyle such as job or role/content/status change, the effect on self esteem, confidence,  and ability to cope can be adversely affected.   It is therefore helpful for everyone to know better their own reactions, and to know how best to support others.

Sometimes doing or saying the wrong thing can have a disastrous impact and hinder the process of recovery, whether in private or professional life.  For managers implementing organisational change, getting it wrong for a valued member of their team can result in long term damage to the whole team's effectiveness. Getting it wrong for a friend, colleague or client may result in a permanent rupture in the relationship.

Utilising Elizabeth Kubler Ross's work  (commonly known as the Loss/Change Curve) as a framework, this workshop will explore and review how different types respond to change and loss,   and what they need to support them to move through the process successfully. It will provide tools and techniques for supporting ourselves and others through transitions, at work and at home.

The workshop will be led by Joanne Garner PTSTA(P), MSc, MCIPD. Joanne is principal of Coaching and Counselling Consultancy, and a Registered Practitioner with MBTI® for over twenty years. She is highly experienced in using the  MBTI®,  and applying it in the different settings of organisations, private practice and personal life.
