Myers Briggs® Masterclass 4 Type and Psychopathology Saturday 13th November 2010

Location: Newick, East Sussex

Course Fee: £80 (multi workshop discount available)

The fourth in a series of one day Saturday workshops is designed for those with a prior acquaintance with Jungian typology as interpreted by Briggs & Myers with the MBTI®.

It follows on from the introductory day held at The Link Centre in October 2009. Attendance at that workshop is not a pre-requisite for booking on any or all of the masterclasses; you just need to be familiar with your own profile, willing to share that with other attendees, and acquainted with the basic theory of type.

The workshop has an experiential format

The fourth workshop looks at how a knowledge of type can inform and support our understanding of what happens when an individual or group starts thinking, feeling or behaving in ways which are seriously unhelpful, to themselves and others.

If we are the individual, it is essential to recognise and know what is going on!   If we observe it in others, it is prudent to know when to leave well alone, when to refer to a specialist, or when a considered intervention may be helpful.

Maximum benefit will be gained from this workshop if participants have attended the other three Workshops in the series, and in particular Workshop 2.

The day will incorporate a brief review of the classical Transactional Analysis (TA) approach to psychopathology, known as Personality Adaptations. The categorisation of distress and disturbance used by the DSM (Diagnostic & Statistical Manual) will also be briefly referred to, but no prior knowledge of either TA or the DSM is required to attend.  Whether you are a  therapist, manager or simply a family member or friend, this workshop is likely to be useful.

The workshop will be led by Joanne Garner PTSTA(P), MSc, MCIPD. Joanne is principal of Coaching and Counselling Consultancy, and a Registered Practitioner with MBTI® for over twenty years. She is highly experienced in using the  MBTI®,  and applying it in the different settings of organisations, private practice and personal life.
