Payment for the TA training can be made either in full before 31st September (a five per cent reduction is offered in this case) or in three instalments in October, January and April.

Please note students paying each term will be required to pay the full year's fee, irrespective of whether or not they complete the course.

In some circumstances employers will pay for or contribute towards the cost of this training.

Loans:
The Link Centre is a registered learning provider for Career Development Loans. These are deferred repayment loans that help individuals fund their vocational education or learning. While not available for foundation level education, anyone going on to Counselling or Psychotherapy training may be eligible. To find out more view the website at www.direct.gov.uk/cdl

Bursary:
The Institute of Transactional Analysis (ITA) has bursaries available for members who are in training and have been ITA members for two years. The Margaret Turpin Training Trust offers bursaries to contracted trainees for expenses that do not include main training costs.

The Total Costs of Training:
To attend the TA training (including the Foundation Year) students are required to have personal therapy on a weekly basis - minimum of 40 hours per year. The cost of personal therapy will be approx. £35-40 per session, although some therapists offer a reduction for students and group psychotherapy is usually less.

In the second to third year students are expected to have a placement seeing clients. This is unlikely to be paid and students must attend supervision at a cost of approximately £40 per session at a minimum of one hour's supervision for each six client-hours.

Sometimes free supervision is provided at placements.

Although the counselling course can be completed in three years and a psychotherapy course in four, it is not uncommon for students to take time out before they complete the final examination.

Others costs include: books, conference attendance and exam preparation group. It is not a requirement to attend conferences or exam preparation group, but it is recommended.
