Counselling and Psychotherapy Training
(120 hours p/a - fully accredited by The Counselling Society)
TA clinical years 1, 2 and 3 specialist training: These courses are aimed at those wishing to go on and qualify as counsellors and/or UKCP registered psychotherapists. The courses will combine TA theory with practical application, demonstrations and case examples. Throughout the programme, the group process will be utilised.
Written work: Learning journal, short questionnaires after each weekend (clinical year 1 only), two 2000-word essays per year.
Qualifications: Diploma in Counselling.
Following successful completion of the foundation year, plus two clinical years and a minumum of 200 supervised practice hours, and 90 hours counselling skills training students are eligible to take our Counselling Diploma. This exam consists of a written piece and an oral exam presentation of their work.
Qualifications: CTA (Psychotherapy)
Following successful completion of the foundation year, plus three clinical years and 750 supervised practice hours and meeting other criteria set by the certifying bodies, students will be eligible to take their psychotherapy exam. Certified by EATA (European Association for Transactional Analysis), this leads to UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy) registration.
A minimum of 90 hours counselling skills training must either have been completed before starting this training or during the first three years of the course. Students are required to be in ongoing personal therapy throughout this period. Voluntary placements begin in year 2 and 3. Students are required to secure their own placement, although The Link Centre is happy to advise of local available options.
This course is fully accredited by The Counselling Society and fulfills all the requirements of Accredited Membership for graduates.
