Courses

We offer a range of courses for individuals and organisations wanting to learn about psychological health and wellbeing.

We work both from our training premises at Plumpton College, Sussex (with occasional workshops held in Chelwood Gate), online,  and in house depending on the needs of the client. From our premises we offer courses in counselling, psychotherapy, mindfulness, supervisions and other subjects. In house we tailor our courses to the needs of the organisation or educational establishments.

Counselling & Psychotherapy

For those wanting to become competent, ethical professionals with accredited qualifications.

Diploma in Counselling (Advanced TA Training – Level 6)

For those wanting to qualify as accredited Counsellors and be registered on the PSA (Professional Standards Authority) voluntary government register for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Psychotherapy Training

For those wanting to qualify as UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy) registered Psychotherapists. This qualification (Certified Transactional Analysis Psychotherapist) is also endorsed by EATA (European Association for Transactional Analysis) and has international as well as national recognition.

Certificate in Basic Counselling Skills – 30 hours

This 30 hour course is for those who have had no previous training in counselling skills or who those want to re visit the basic concepts of active listening. We will introduce ideas such as reflection, summary, paraphrasing and confrontation as well as Carl Rogers ideas around empathy, congruence and acceptance

Intermediate Counselling Skills – 30 hours

This course is for those who have a basic knowledge of counselling skills and want to build their competence and confidence. Tutor / Participant ratio will allow a focus on the developmental level of each participant. These skills can be applied in a wide range of contexts.

Advanced Counselling Skills – 30 hours

This course is for those who have a competent level of counselling skills and want to refine these further, building on what they already know. We will deepen skills, explore working at depth and experiment with working with couples and working with groups.

Certificate in Trauma-Focused Therapy – 5 Day Course

A five day online course, delivered by Mark Widdowson, which will provide practicing counsellors and psychotherapists with a detailed understanding of how to work effectively with trauma in therapy.

5 days between 4th November 2021 and 4th February 2022 or 10th March 2022 to 10th June 2022

Certificate in Working with People with Personality Disorders – 4 days – Online

This 4 day online course (over 4 Saturdays in September) aims to present a comprehensive overview of personality disorders, delivered by trainers with specialist clinical and research expertise in psychotherapy with this client group.

Certificate In Working with Families (18 hours – Online)

A 6 x 3 hour online course (on Friday mornings) enabling practitioners to develop an understanding of Family and Systemic Therapy and how this can be used in their practice to support individuals in the context of their family as well as more complicated systems in their practice.

Cert. In Applied TA in Clinical Practice – 60 Hours ONLINE

A 60 hour online course designed for qualified counsellors and psychotherapists who would like to add TA to enhance their practice when working with clients.

Relational Neuroscience: An Introduction to Interpersonal Neurobiology – 30 hours – Online

10 morning sessions between May and July 2022

What do therapists need to know about the brain and the body whilst working clients? Interpersonal neurobiology gives us a scientific framework to consider interventions and enhance our treatment planning.

Certificate in Couples Counselling: Online – 6 Days Jan to June 2022

6 Thursdays between January and July 2022

This online course will provide practicing students and qualified counsellors with all the skills and underpinning knowledge they need to practice couples and relationship counselling.

Transactional Analysis

For those wanting to learn TA for the first time or build on existing knowledge.

The Official Introduction to Transactional Analysis ( TA101)

This two-day (or 4 evening) internationally recognised course is our most popular course. You will come away with new ideas, perspectives and models that you can use in every area of your life. People who attend this course come away with real insight into their own process and others and gain useful practical ideas of how to do things in a way that serves them better.

Foundation Certificate in Transactional Analysis Theory

This is a 20 day (10 weekend course)  aimed at those who have attended the TA101 and have been inspired to deepen their knowledge of TA in an environment that is collegial, supportive and developmental. This course can be taken as a stand-alone course but is also the first year for those wanting to continue on to our counselling and psychotherapy courses.
