Once upon a time to happily ever after…
Experiences from our clients tell us that endings are not always “happily ever after”. They are often painful and for many bring people to therapy when they have never been before. In most of the work we do with clients there are aspects of endings, whether it be a death, a loss of part of themselves (physically or mentally), loss of a job, a role, a house or an aspect of their past or wished for future.
In this Certificate course we will consider loss and bereavement. Learning will be based on discussion and experiential, as well as models and theories. It will be an opportunity to look at your own views and experiences of loss, as well as considering how we work in the therapy room with those who have experienced loss.
In this course together we will discover:
• Your own thoughts, feelings and reactions to loss
• Some common models in relation to grief and loss
• Loss in relation to Attachment theory
• The neurobiological impact of loss
• Transactional Analysis theory in relation to loss e.g. Ego Staes, Script beliefs, Discounting, Symbiosis
• How to best work with bereaved clients in the therapy room
• The potential parallels with endings in therapy
This course is aimed at trainees or qualified therapists would would like to explore more about working in the area of loss and bereavement.
Please note that that although we will discuss different losses, this Certificate will mainly focus on loss in terms of death and bereavement.
A certificate will be provided at the end of the course
