Join us for a free 1-hour online Q&A introducing the five-day training Certificate in Working with Trauma – ‘Emerging from Emergency’, led by psychotherapist and trainer Jonathan Lake, PTSTA, TA Psych M.Sc, Psychology B.Sc
This session offers an opportunity to hear more about the course content, structure and learning approach, and to ask questions directly about Jonathan’s way of teaching and working with trauma. The course provides a comprehensive framework for understanding trauma, drawing on multiple theoretical perspectives including Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, Person-Centred, Adlerian, CBT and Jungian approaches. Learning is both didactic and experiential, using the group as a reflective community while maintaining clear boundaries and attention to safety.
This session is suitable for qualified counsellors and psychotherapists, as well as advanced trainees.

‘Jonathan’s experience with trauma and his ability to impart this knowledge was truly impactful. He engaged gently with the group, modelling how to work with the complex subject of trauma. His ability to quote and retrieve information was done with charisma and even humour at times, which made the weight of the subject easily digestible. Thank you.’ – Cameron, Course Participant July 2025
‘An extremely worthwhile course – choc full of information, theory and absolute pearls of wisdom. Jonathan is a fantastic tutor.’ – Course Participant July 2025

Jonathan has worked as a psychotherapist since 1999 and delivers clinical training at different psychotherapy institutes in London and Brighton. He also provides support as a Critical Incident Responder for events such as terrorist attacks, death in service and more recently supporting families in Israel and Palestine as well as running onsite groups in LA for people who have lost their homes in the recent fires.
Jonathan loves teaching and hopes to do so in an engaging and informed way, to bring out our own wisdom from within through experiential exercises as well as more formal delivery of theory and best clinical practices.
He particularly aims to offer courses and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in subjects that can be overlooked in M.Sc and core trainings in institutes, such as onsite work, trauma-focused therapy, critical incident response, food and therapy, neurodivergence, intersectionality and relationships including polyamory, kink and differing sexual and personal identities.

This five-day online training in trauma counselling with Jonathan Lake will provide practising counsellors and psychotherapists with a detailed understanding of how to work effectively with the various types of trauma we see in the therapy room and onsite at critical incidents.
Run over six Fridays, we will look at different types of loving and relating to understand better how we can function and flourish with a partner or partners in life.
