Course Overview

This online Certificate in Applied Transactional Analysis in Clinical Practice course is designed for advanced trainees, qualified counsellors and psychotherapists who wish to deepen their knowledge of Transactional Analysis (TA) and integrate it into their practice. Whether you are looking to enhance your therapeutic skills or gain more confidence in applying TA concepts, this training will provide practical insights and tools to support your work with clients.

Course Structure

The course focuses on the practical application of core TA theories in counselling and psychotherapy, ensuring you leave with a strong foundation for intergrating TA into your client work. 

There will be some ongoing peer supervision where participants have the opportunity to discuss relevant client work in a contained, confidential and professional environment, to enhance the integration of their learning.

Certificate in Applied Transactional Analysis in Clinical Practice will be presented at the end of the course. Participants need to attend at least 80% of the course to gain their certificate.

Sample Course Content

  • Working from a TA perspective: Develop a strong understanding of how to work from a TA lens in your practice.
  • Working with Contracting: Learn the essential process of establishing clear agreements with clients.
  • Working with Life Script: Understand how life scripts influence client behavior and learn how to work with them therapeutically
  • Working with Ego States and Transactions: Gain expertise in identifying and working with Ego States and Transactions.
  • Working with Games and Rackets: Learn to recognize and address games and rackets that clients may engage in during therapy.
  • Working with Stuckness (Impasse theory): Explore how to navigate therapeutic impasses and support clients in moving forward.
  • Working with Transference: Understand Transference dynamics and learn how to work with them in the therapeutic relationship.
  • Working with Discounting: Recognize and address client discounting behaviors in a supportive and effective way.

Course Details

Participant Numbers: Spaces are limited to 20 participants.

Pre-Course Requirements: Participants must be advanced trainees or qualified counsellors or psychotherapists and have attended a TA101 course or equivalent (i.e. covered the TA101 content in their training).

Delivery: The course will be taught online over zoom. Please note the sessions will not be recorded.

Refund Policy: Deposits are non-refundable. Cancellations made more than 7 days before the course will receive a 50% refund of the balance.

Recognition: A Link Centre CPD Certificate will be presented and the hours can be counted as advanced TA training.

Tutor: Suna Güven (PTSTA)

Suna has provided counselling and psychotherapy since 2000, initially working in non-profit organisations. In 2004, she was employed as a bi-lingual counsellor to provide individual counselling and group psychotherapy to Turkish and Kurdish immigrants and later on was promoted as Mental Health Team Leader. She was responsible for service development; facilitating reflective practice meetings; developing and implementing policies for confidentiality, ethical and safe practice, clinical assessments and interventions. Since 2014, she has been working in a fertility clinic and has had a private practice in The City of London.

Being a teacher in her previous career, Suna has a strong interest in delivering psycho-educational trainings with a view to alleviate stress and empower people. In an ever migrating world Suna has always had a firm interest in diversity and cross-cultural work. She has worked extensively with foreign nationals and bi-cultural individuals – with a special focus on trauma, cultural and personal bereavement, anxiety, depression and resilience . She holds a MSc in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy, a diploma in Integrative and Humanistic Counselling. She is accredited by and registered with BACP.

Deposit taken at booking. Full fees are due two months before the course starts. Payment plans are available.

Cancellation Policy:

The deposit is non-refundable.  A refund of 50% will be given on cancellations with more than seven days’ notice.
