Setting up a private practice can seem a daunting task! Alongside the demands of the clinical works itself are a whole range of practical, legal and business considerations. It can be a lot to navigate on your own – but you don’t have to.

This four-part practical online workshop is designed to support newly qualified counsellors and psychotherapists in building the business side of being a successful self-employed therapist. Covering four distinct areas of establishing a thriving private practice, the workshops will be facilitated with a mix of experienced guidance and practical tips, as well as exercises to help create a business that reflects your values and experience, and importantly, helps you develop and expand into your potential.

During the workshops there will be opportunities for you to discuss individual challenges and concerns, as well as time to make connections with each other.

Meet Your Tutor

Helen Weighell, UKCP Reg. Psychotherapist, MA IAP

Helen is an Integrative Psychotherapist, Supervisor, Tutor and Trainer, and has had a thriving private practice in London for 14 years. She is an enthusiastic supporter of those new to working in private practice, particularly motivated to help ensure individuals are supported to create relevant & congruent businesses.

She started giving talks to final year students at Metanoia about the business of being a self-employed therapist over ten years ago, and these workshops for 2025 have developed on from them.

Key details

Delivery: 14 hours. Live and interactive via Zoom (sessions will not be recorded).

Participant numbers: Spaces are limited to 18 participants.

Assessment: No formal assessment.

Recognition: A Link Centre Certificate will be presented for the number of hours attended.
