This 10-week online Certificate in Neuro-Affirming Practice is designed for counsellors, psychotherapists, coaches, and mental health practitioners who are committed to creating inclusive, respectful, and empowering therapeutic spaces for neurodivergent clients. Grounded in the latest research and lived experience, this course integrates trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and neurodiversity-affirming approaches that honour the full spectrum of human neurocognitive variation.
Participants will explore the foundations of neurodivergence—including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and more—through a strengths-based and relational lens. This course includes in-depth discussions, experiential exercises, case studies, and guided self-reflection to deepen both theoretical understanding and practical application. Emphasis is placed on unlearning ableist assumptions, recognising sensory and processing differences, affirming communication styles, and adapting therapeutic tools and environments to meet neurodivergent needs.
Whether you are new to neurodiversity or seeking to enhance your existing practice, this certificate will equip you with the confidence, language, and strategies to offer genuinely affirming support that reduces harm, fosters safety, and centres neurodivergent voices.
Training hours: 30 hours. Live and interactive via Zoom. Sessions will be recorded and available for 30 days.
Pre-Course Requirements: Participants should be qualified or trainee counsellors or psychotherapists, coaches or mental health practitioners actively seeing clients (either in placement or qualified roles).
